Yesterday we saw a good film called Noise. It is about a guy (played by Tim Robbins) that lives in Manhattan, gets fed up with the noise (specifically with car alarms going off) and actually does something about it. Think about it, car alarms are completely useless. We all disregard them, and some researches show explicitly that they do not prevent car thefts at all. A Google search for 'ban useless car alarms' gave 124,000 results! The film also raises some questions as to how far do we have to go in order to really make a change. The advantage of Noise compared to the film Falling Down (Michael Douglas) is that the hero in Noise begins his journey as a rather normal person whereas in Falling Down, the hero is not normal to begin with. So, if you have some spare time on your hands, watch Noise, or go fix the world.

Well, when Dov Hanin is Mayor of Tel-Aviv, hopefully he'll get rid of these damn leaf-blowers.
Everyday with the noise and the dust. And for what? moving a few leafs from here to there?
Even if there was something inherently wrong with the view of some leaves on the ground, what's wrong with using a rake (Magrepha)? No noise, no dust and no use of petrol.
Anyway, I'm not gonna fix the world. just bitch about it a little, though :)

I'm definitely watching this movie. This topic is very dear to my heart. There's this car's alarm that keeps going off in our (otherwise very quiet) neighbourhood, which I trully hate. And of course, children shouting in the street from time to time, they make me have homicidal thoughts.
utorrent is crunching it as I type.
Hope you like Shahar's blog!
